I use to breed discuses in well-planted tanks. I noticed that steady Water temperature to be the key to prevent diseases. Sponge filters where kept running 24 hours, throughout the year. Frequent removal of beef heart debris after feeding is very important. Feeding of Mosquito larvae is very dangerous. I use to feed one pair with mosquito larvae,. They lost appetite after 5 days and never ate any food after that for up to two months until their death..
